International event, “The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2014” have doubly awarded “Les Haras” in the EUROPE and WORLD categories during an official ceremony which was held in London on September 25, 2014.
The brasserie was first awarded “best European restaurant” prior to being awarded “best restaurant in the world” later in the evening. These prizes were awarded by an international Jury, made up of 26 world-renowned professionals in the world of design, the art of living and welcoming. There were 860 restaurants from 60 countries competing.
The Brasserie des Haras is the first French restaurant to be rewarded in the world category since the creation of the competition 6 years ago.
As the only international competition exclusively dedicated to the design of bars and hotels, the “Restaurant & Bar Design Awards” have been rewarding the most ambitious projects in interior decoration and design for restaurants and bars from the world over.
The two prizes awarded to the Brasserie des Haras celebrate the creativity and know-how of home designers and architects, Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku.
Their vision of a truly authentic and modern infrastructure, subtly redolent of the world of horses, was particularly appreciated by the jury. An ambitious and generous project which sublimates a tremendous asset to the city of Strasbourg’s cultural heritage. The history of the site is central to the renovation of this magical site, with a desire to bring about modernization which led to a purely inspired architecture.
In 2009, the IRCAD initiated the renovation of the former Royal Stud Farm of Strasbourg, built under Louis XIV in order to set up a biocluster dedicated to biomedical and surgical startups, a 4-star charming luxury hotel along with a brasserie restaurant run by Marc Haeberlin, a 3-star chef. By calling upon the Jouin-Manku agency for the interior decoration of the brasserie, the IRCAD opted for excellence at all levels.
As a world-class school of surgery and training center, the IRCAD started a project of renovation of Strasbourg’s Haras National Stud Farm to enhance its attractivity among international experts and surgeons in training. The objective has been achieved !
This is an outstanding distinction for the Haras which will celebrate its first anniversary in mid-October.
