Videosurgery in Pediatric Urology Advanced Course
Full immersion in Pediatric Urology
At the end of the 1980s, pioneers in pediatric videosurgery demonstrated that all kinds
of malformations could be managed using laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, retroperitoneoscopy, subcutaneous videosurgery, videosurgery combined with endoluminal endoscopy, and robotic surgery.
During the same period, we had to convince colleagues and families that many benefits could be obtained for our patients and conclusions could be drawn with the iterative paradigm “This new minimally invasive approach is safe and feasible”.
And very quickly, we could add the description of the advantages we could have with these techniques.
During an IRCAD course, participants have the opportunity to learn, share, ask questions, improve technical skills, meet experts and colleagues, and compare various experiences.
Pediatric urology and pediatric visceral surgery are distinct specialties.
In 2022, there will be two specific courses dedicated to these specialties.

Course objectives
- To cover a broad spectrum of surgical procedures in pediatric surgery
- To provide indications for surgical treatment and discuss operative complications
- To highlight technicalities of surgical interventions through the broadcasting of videos
- To allow discussion between experts and trainee surgeons
- To provide hands-on sessions to improve skills in laparoscopic surgery through practice on live tissue under expert tutorial
- To describe postoperative clinical results and practical applications of evidence-based clinical medicine

- Interactive didactic lectures and video sessions between Faculty and course participants in auditorium with the latest audiovisual technologies
