On Sunday, August 23, 2015, during the opening ceremony of the World Congress of Surgery, which gathered more than 8,000 surgeons in Bangkok, the International Society of Surgery Prize was awarded to Professor Jacques Marescaux by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
On behalf of Professor Marescaux who could not be present, Professor James T. Yao, recipient of the René Leriche 2015 Award, expressed his sincere thanks.
The International Society of Surgery Prize is awarded every two years to an academic surgeon whose scientific achievements brought the greatest contribution to the healthcare community. The only French surgeon who has been awarded the Prize is Professor Hepp 32 years ago for his internationally recognized achievements in hepatobiliary surgery.
This Prize testifies to the quality, dynamics, and innovative approach of Strasbourg’s IRCAD achievements, which have been appreciated by the international scientific community once more.
