On February 5, 2013, Moncef Marzouki, President of the Tunisian Republic, came to Strasbourg to address the Members of the European Parliament. He also paid a visit to Professor Jacques Marescaux at the IRCAD training center after getting back together with his former colleagues and fellows of Strasbourg’s School of Medicine. First, he visited the IRCAD’s experimental labs where 34 foreign surgeons took part in hands-on practice in minimally invasive surgical procedures. Moncef Marzouki was totally fascinated by the extensive range of IRCAD activities presented by Professor Marescaux in the fields of medical imaging, computer sciences and robotics applied to cancer surgery. To crown it all, he was taken on a virtual tour of the minimally invasive image-guided hybrid surgery platform, directly from Strasbourg’s Image-Guided Hybrid Surgery Institute (IHU).
