Almost 500 readers of the Alsatian newspaper DNA (Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace) were invited for an exclusive gathering at the IRCAD-France in Strasbourg on January 29, 2011, to learn about the latest surgical innovations developed by the IRCAD research team.

Professor Jacques Marescaux, President of the IRCAD, Professor Luc Soler, Research Project Manager in Computer Sciences, and Dr. Michel Vix, digestive surgeon, demonstrated all research and educational activities developed at the IRCAD. This event was carried out at the IRCAD’s auditoriums and at the two IRCAD’s operating theaters —one of them equipped with 17 operating tables for education and training in minimally invasive surgery, and the other one dedicated to surgical robotics.
The audience had a chance to understand how medical imaging —MRI, CT-scan— allows to create digital clones of patients, thus making surgical procedures easier to perform for surgeons. A live demonstration of the “Da Vinci” surgical robot was also carried out.
At the end of the meeting, the audience, fascinated by the IRCAD developments, took a chance to ask questions about the latest innovations developed at the IRCAD.

We would like to draw your attention that the « Vaccine Pass » is now mandatory in France since end of January 2022 and replaces the former « Health Pass » to access places that are open to the public, such as cinemas, museums, cafés and restaurants, hotels as well as the IRCAD Institute which welcomes participants in the framework of its courses and seminars. Thus, a PCR test without vaccination is no longer sufficient to take part in our courses.
