On March 12, Professor Jacques Marescaux welcomed Siemens Healthcare’s CEO, Mr. Hermann Requardt, and his collaborators, to give them a tour of the IRCAD and the IHU Strasbourg (image-guided minimally invasive surgery institute).
The tour started with the IRCAD’s auditoriums and with the high definition video control room which allows to broadcast live surgical interventions at the institute. The Siemens Healthcare delegation then visited the operating rooms dedicated to hands-on practice in minimally invasive surgery.
The delegation also visited the IHU compounds, in the presence of Mrs Sybill Storz, CEO of Karl Storz Endoskope. Cutting edge imaging equipment presented included the Siemens 128-slice computed tomography scanner, the Siemens 3000 ultrasound system, a one-of-a-kind device in Europe, the Syngo®.via multimodality reading platforms, and the Artis Zeego, which is the first multi-axis system for computed tomography-type imaging.
The IHU Strasbourg team presented some of the highly innovative tools used at the institute by performing a live retrograde cholangiography.
